74, passed away August 6, 2018.

Graham was born on June 29, 1944 in Biloxi, Mississippi. He was the son of the late Graham and Helen Ross. He was formerly of North Plainfield before moving to Bridgewater over 50 years ago. He graduated from North Plainfield High School and is a member of the NPHS Hall of Fame. He then graduated from Gettysburg College in 1966 with a Bachelor’s Degree and in 1969 from Seton Hall School of Law with a Juris Doctorate (JD) degree. In 1972 Graham started practicing law in Somerville and in 1986 was appointed by Governor Thomas Kean as a Superior Court Judge and was reappointed with tenure by Governor Jim Florio in 1993. In 2001 he was appointed the Assignment Judge of Vicinage 13 which includes Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties. Prior to his appointment as the Assignment Judge for Vicinage 13, Graham was the Presiding Judge of the Family Division in the vicinage and was the chair of the statewide Conference of Family Presiding Judges. Graham was a leader in the Judiciary’s efforts to improve services to victims of domestic violence and served as vice-chair of the statewide Domestic Violence Working Group and lead a team that reviewed the handling of domestic violence cases in Superior Court around the state. In addition to his contributions in the area of services for domestic violence, Graham also served on Supreme Court task forces on Special Civil Part, Drugs and the Courts and Juveniles and the Justice System.

He also served as municipal attorney in South Bound Brook and Somerville and the municipal prosecutor in Bridgewater and Readington. Graham was admitted to practice law in New Jersey, U.S District Court, District of NJ and the U.S. Supreme Court. He was a member of St. Martins Episcopal Church, the Somerville Elks Lodge #1068 for over 40 years, the NJ State Bar Association and the Somerset County Bar Association where he served as President in 1981. Graham currently was employed at Purcell, Mulcahy & Flanagan, LLC Law Firm in Bedminster until his passing. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, fishing and watching his Red Sox baseball team. He especially loved spending summers at the Jersey Shore having great times with his family and friends. Graham was loved by all for his quick wit and jokes. His friends and co-workers called him a true and loyal friend. He will be sadly missed by all.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 50 years, Linda M. Ross, son Scott Ross and his wife Kristen, a daughter Stephanie Kavanagh and her husband Raymond, a sister Carol Hoffman and husband Edward, four grandchildren Erin, Andrew, Graham and Gavin and numerous nieces and nephews. And of course, his best friend, his cat.

Services will be private. Arrangements by the Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave, Somerville. A memorial service at St. John’s Episcopal Church will be held at the convenience of the family.
