She was born in Howell Township eldest of seven children and grew up in Wayside, NJ, lived for many years Towson, Maryland, and retired to Winter Park, Florida before moving to Heath Village in Hackettstown NJ in 2005. She was employed at Edgewood Arsenal in Aberdeen, Maryland as a research chemist. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Newark with a BA in 1940 and attended graduate school at Columbia University. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid reader.
She is predeceased by her husband Royale R. Crabtree who died in 1991 after 46 years of marriage.
Surviving are her sons, Thomas, Benjamin, and Robert, two brothers Ralph and John Paul Voorhees, a sister Mildred Worthley, nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Services will be private. Interment at Wayside Church Cemetery. Arrangements by Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, Somerville.
