Harry (HAR) Potts III passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones on March 19, 2019. He was 69 years old. Born in Newark, NJ, he resided in Somerville most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Violet Potts Jr and brother Ronald.

He leaves behind his loving wife Jo-Jo of 45 years and three children. Son Michael and his wife Elizabeth, Jason, and daughter Jessica and her husband Tommy von Spreckelsen. He also leaves three grandchildren Sofia, Reagan, and Finnegan who were the light of his life. They gave him eternal love, joy, and happiness.

Harry leaves his sister Carol and husband Ronald Chess, brother Russell and wife Kathy, sister Nancy and husband Charlie Woinski, brother Richie and wife Tracey and his beloved Aunt Nancy Sternadori.

He has numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He always had a special place in his heart for nephew Eddie Mathewson and neighbor Nikki Dallessio.

Harry served three years in the armed service, and worked for the postal service for most of his life. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, softball, board games, card games, and The Sands in Bethlehem. He was a member of the Somerville Eagles and the Somerville American Legion.

Harry was an active member and leader in the community coaching Little League, Pop Warner, and managing the Somerville American Legion Post 12 Men’s Softball Team for well over 25 years. Over the years, he has triumphantly carried his team to winning championships countless times year after year. One of his proudest achievements was his team players and leading them to victory seasons.

Harry has made a positive impact on so many young life’s watching them grow into successful adults. He was a kind, friendly, loving man with a big smile and a bigger heart. Our community has lost a true legend. He will be loved and missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, per Harry’s wish, was for donations in his name to the American Legion Post 12 Color Guard.
